Day Two
On day two, we hope you are well rested and ready to eat! We recommend that you head to Downtown Gallatin. There are many shops to explore on the square, and we encourage you to check it out! With fall here, the businesses downtown get very creative, and the square gets a nice, fall touch to it. You will want to go to BYH Kitchen + Bar for brunch. They offer an environment full of delicious, unique foods. After you eat, you’ll want to stroll through the shops on the square. We recommend stopping in Tennessee Honey & Gifts for the ladies!

After strolling the square in Downtown Gallatin, it is the perfect time to check out a historic site. There are so many to chose from, but we highly recommend Historic Rock Castle in Hendersonville, TN. Here, you will be able to go on an informational tour explaining all the history of the home. It is a historic treasure in Hendersonville that we can’t wait to share with you. You will love the fall beauty that Historic Rock Castle offers this time of the year!
Historic Rock Castle
Historic Rock Castle, built between 1784-1796, was the home of early Tennesseans General Daniel Smith and his wife Sarah Michie Smith. Smith acted as surveyor and helped create the line between Kentucky and Tennessee, he produced the state’s first map, and he is credited with naming the state of Tennessee. Smith's family was also connected to President Andrew Jackson, as Smith’s grandsons were raised at The Hermitage, Jackson’s home in Nashville. One of Smith's grandsons, Andrew Jackson Donelson, served as Jackson's personal secretary, and another grandson, Daniel Smith Donelson, lived at nearby Hazel Path Mansion and served a brigadier general for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Historic Rock Castle sits on beautiful lakefront acreage in Hendersonville.
After your trip at Historic Rock Castle, it will be close to dinner time. We recommend checking out one of our new breweries in Sumner County! TailGate Brewery has just opened up in Hendersonville, TN. They serve a wide selection of beer and pizza. We recommend that you eat dinner and have a drink at TailGate Brewery and head back to your hotel or Airbnb to prepare for the next day!

Day Three
Now that you have rested, we recommend you head out to Portland, TN! We suggest that you start your day at Bottom View Farm for their fall festival. We highly recommend this activity if traveling with your family. After the fun time at Bottom View Farm, we recommend heading to 5 Chef’s for lunch. They offer delicious cafe food that everyone loves! They also have amazing cakes and shopping that add to the experience! After you wrap up at 5 Chef’s, you’ll want to drive over to Harbin Hollow. Harbin Hollow is located in Portland, TN, and they offer a unique shopping experience that will make you want to take everything home! After Harbin Hollow, we recommend heading to Hendersonville for dinner at Lyncoya Cafe. Their food is delicious and unique, and we guarantee you will leave happy! After eating, you can check out other local breweries or head back to your hotel or Airbnb (we’re not here to judge)!
