Sumner County has all the December events to put you in the holiday spirit! Join us at these events and ring in the holidays! 

Gallatin Tree Lighting

 

Dates: December 1st

3 P.M.

100 Public Square, Gallatin, Tennessee

Ring in the holiday season at the Gallatin Tree lighting with special guests Chapel Hart and Guild and Union Elementary students. Witness the transformation of Historic Downtown Gallatin into a wonderland of lights that will warm your holiday season!

The Winter Wonderettes

 

Dates: December 1-2

Hendersonville Performing Arts Company, Hendersonville, Tennessee

Dance and swing your way into the holidays with the Hendersonville Performing Arts Company presentation of the Winter Wonderettes! The Winter Wonderettes is a 1960’s holiday jukebox musical! Come enjoy classics such as “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Run, Rudolph, Run,” and “Winter Wonderland,”. There will be plenty of laughs and audience participation!

Goodlettsville Tree Lighting and Santa Holiday Party

 

Dates: December 1st

6:00 P.M.

105 S Main Street, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Watch as the switch is flipped on the giant tree in front of City Hall and Candy Cane Village beside City Hall!
This event is free and family friendly. Everyone is invited to join in the fun at Santa’s Holiday Party following the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 2nd. Starting at 6:30 pm participants will have the opportunity to visit with Santa, listen to live music and entertainment, create a special craft to take home, and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.

Magical holiday Home Tour

 

Dates: December 2nd

11:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.

Sumner County Tourism, 2310 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, Tennessee

Step into a world of holiday magic by touring Sumner County’s finest homes! With two tours available, you will be able to take in inspiration for your home decorations or just marvel at the beauty of the homes and holiday lights. The General Admission tour includes luxury homes including a tour of historic Rose Mont. The Tinsel Tour includes General admission homes plus a scheduled, guided tour of the original Fairvue Plantation Mansion, a private residence rarely seen by the public. This tour benefits Children Are People, Grace Place Ministries, Foster Families Assistance, and Sumner REALTORS.

Grandpa's Music

Christmas Parade and Christmas on Main Street

The annual White House Christmas Parade with a super fun, Christmas movie theme! Following the parade, Christmas on Main Street will take place! Expect to find free refreshments, hot cocoa, cookies and milk, popcorn, live music, and photos with Santa.

Tipsy Christmas

Date: December 2nd

Who said Christmas shopping had to be boring? A Tipsy Christmas is a day of shopping, sipping, and eating all in support of local businesses. Start your shopping spree at any of the two hub locations, Tipsy Ricki’s or Sumner Crest Winery, and start your spree! Participating shoppers will receive a hole punch for visiting any of the participating stores while a purchase gets you two special hole punches. Each hole punch is an entry into the drawing for a grand prize! Second and third-place winners will receive a gift basket with items from all participating locations. 

The first 100 people through either of the two hub locations’ doors (50 at each location) will receive a swag bag filled with goodies from participating locations!

Polar Express

Portland Christmas Festival and Parade-Polar Express

Join the community of Portland as they welcome the holiday season with the annual Christmas Parade. Themed The Polar Express, attendees can expect to be mesmerized by the Christmas-decorated floats and characters taking over the streets of Portland. Festivities begin at 3 P.M. with live music, vendors, cookie decorating, and a visit from Santa! The parade will begin at 5:30 P.M.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and what better way to kick off the festivities than by joining us for the Westmoreland 2023 Christmas Parade! This year, we’re turning Downtown Westmoreland into a winter wonderland with a spectacular parade that promises to delight visitors of all ages.

As the clock strikes 2:30 PM on December 2nd, the streets of Downtown Westmoreland will come alive with the twinkle of lights, the sounds of joyous carolers, and the heartwarming spirit of the season. The 2023 Christmas Parade is a cherished tradition that brings our community together and ignites the holiday spirit in all who attend.

YuleFest

Historic Maskers Station, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Yulefest kicks off the holiday season with musicians, storytellers, and demonstrators in the cabins of Mansker’s Station and in the Bowen House. Visitors can take their time listening to the sounds of the past as they tour the sites and take in the beauty of simple, natural decorations, enjoy refreshments, participate in carriage rides and dancing, and so much more.

Christmas Open House at the bridal House

Take a step back into the 19th century at the Christmas Open House at The Bridal House! Visitors can expect refreshments, period-dressed docents, and 19th-century music being played on the hammered dulcimer. Vendors include Christmas artwork by Kathleen Haynes, soaps by Kay Brown of Scent of the Sun Soap, and holiday florals by Apple and Dove Flower Company.

Bluegrass Country Christmas

Join Grand Ole Opry inductee Rhonda Vincent and The Rage at the Temple Theater in Portland, Tennessee for a Bluegrass Christmas Celebration! Rhonda Vincent has transcended into Bluegrass and Country Music Fame with her 8 Female Vocalist of the Year awards, a Grammy for best Bluegrass Album of the Year, 2001 Entertainer of the Year, and 2021 Grand Ole Opry Inductee. She is bringing her talents to Portland, Tennessee for a once in a lifetime show of Bluegrass from an all-time great.

Christmas by Candlelight

 

Dates: December 9

4:30 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

Cragfont State Historic Site

Join us for An Early Tennessee Christmas at Cragfont…by Candlelight! Experience the beauty of this stately old home and learn about what Christmas was like here over 200 years ago. See the house as never before with the halls decked in greenery and candlelight aglow. End the tour with historical Christmas carols performed by the Traveling Caudells and try an 18th-century Christmas treat.

Tickets to this event are extremely LIMITED.

Cragfont is not heated, please dress appropriately for the weather.

This tour will take place in VERY dim lighting, flashlights will only be permitted while going up and down stairs. If you prefer to tour Cragfont in the daytime, please consider purchasing a ticket to An Early Tennessee Christmas at Cragfont, taking place on November 25th and December 9th.

Running of the Elves

Dates: December 5

Grab your elves and get ready to spread holiday cheer in the third annual Tate Ornamental Running of the Elves Fun Run and 5K! Be the lead in the Christmas parade as the crowd cheers you along the route. Cash prizes for the top male and female in each race.

Experience a special musical performance and hear from TN State Senator Ferrell Haile! It’s going to be a fun time with free cocktails, entertainment, networking, shopping, and more! Doors open at 10 am for holiday shopping until 12 pm. The Luncheon program will begin from 12 pm-1 pm, then the holiday shopping continues from 1 pm-6 pm.
