Avondale is a federally-regulated waterfront recreation area on Old Hickory Lake that is an ideal spot for people looking to launch a boat into the water or a enjoy a lakefront picnic. Bank fishing is also popular, with black bass, crappie and paddlefish in the area. There is a reserveable shelter that can accommodate 50 people.
