The holiday season brings lots of good tidings and cheer, as well as lots of fun and joyful activities the family can enjoy! As Sumner County, Tennessee, celebrates the holidays, we invite you to join us!

Below is a list of upcoming Christmas-related events happening in Sumner County in 2020. Due to Covid-19, it is strongly encouraged to contact attractions directly to confirm event details, including any Covid-19 precautions, and for event updates. Events are subject to change.

Thursday, November 16 - Monday, December 14

Portland

The Holiday Shop Local Passport in Portland gives folks a chance to support local businesses and potentially win prizes! Passports can be picked up at the Portland Chamber of Commerce (106 Main St.) and shoppers collect stamps in their passports from participating businesses. Once completed, the passports are turned in to the Portland Chamber of Commerce to be entered for a chance to win prizes including a $250 grand prize!

The drawing will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Contact the Portland Chamber at (615) 325-9032 for more details.

Saturday, November 21 - January 17, 2021

Hendersonville

Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center presents “A Cosmic Christmas” featuring vibrant works of art created by Peter Max. Max is a German-American artist who is well-known for his use of bright colors as well as his incorporation of psychedelic and pop art influenced by the 1960s.

The exhibit is open to the public Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10am – 5pm, and on Sundays from 1pm – 5pm. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

Saturday, December 19

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch will be shown at The Palace Theatre in downtown Gallatin! Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas attire and Santa will be at the event! Guests will also receive a keepsake gift. Tickets are $10 per person (kids under 2 are free). Tickets can be reserved in advance, door tickets not guaranteed if online tickets sell out.
 
The Grinch will be shown at 10am and 5pm.

Saturday, December 19

Gallatin

Join Bledsoe Creek State Park for an easy hike along the Mayo Wix Trail to see Santa! Attendees should dress warmly and bring a blanket to sit on during this magical story time. Guests must have access to a mask for times when social distancing between households is not possible. Cookies and cocoa will be offered to help attendees warm up after the story.

The event starts at 10am is $7 per child (12 and under) and $3 per adult and guests need to purchase tickets in advance for the hike. Tickets are limited.

Saturday, December 19

Castalian Springs

Journey through an early 19th century holiday during a house tour of Cragfont State Historic Site and experience the Christmas traditions of the Winchester family as told through their letters and diaries. Hot cider will also be served to guests.

Tickets range from $8 – $12 per person and must be purchased in advance. Due to Covid-19 face masks are required and tour sizes will be limited.

House tours run between 10am – 4pm.
